Biodiversity net gain (BNG) in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire for developers

TOE has been working on biodiversity net gain (BNG) in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire since 2018. We were one of the first in the country to deliver BNG units, and we have a strong track record of managing all stages of BNG with skill, care and integrity.

We have already delivered units on over 100 hectares of Oxfordshire countryside. No-one understands this new legislation better than us. Unlike most other BNG brokers we are not-for-profit - everything we do benefits the environment in Oxfordshire through our nature dividend.

Why work with Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment: a developer’s perspective

How Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment can help developers meet their BNG requirements

Meeting your biodiversity net gain obligations can seem daunting. TOE provides a complete off-set site service, so wherever you are in the process of making off-site biodiversity net gain, we can ensure you secure high-quality units which are good value for money. We can:

  • provide the right unit type, ensuring trading rules are met and in the best location for your development

  • register sales for post-mandatory planning applications on the National Biodiversity Gain Register

  • issue a certificate accepted by local planning authorities for planning applications submitted before BNG became mandatory, to discharge a Planning Condition

  • provide reports and updates as required.

Unlike many organisations offering BNG, we have already helped developers successfully through this process from start to finish.

Why choose Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment to deliver BNG?

  • TOE is not just a broker. We are a habitat bank provider and boast sector-leading expertise in both national and local BNG requirements. When you purchase BNG units from us, you can be confident that there will be no loose ends. We will manage each stage of the regulatory, administrative and delivery cycle so that you don’t have to.

  • We understand the priorities and requirements of all the local authorities in the Oxfordshire region. Working with our network of local landowners, we can deliver high-quality BNG units to meet your requirements within the local area, saving you money and bringing stronger benefits for the local environment.

  • We work hard to deliver the highest quality habitat units at a competitive price. Our non-profit status means that we have no shareholders to worry about, so our price reflects only what it costs to deliver high quality BNG units.

  • You can trust us – but you don’t have to take our word for it. Our habitat banks are verified by independent experts from design through to evaluation.

Our record of delivery, our sector-leading in house skills base and our status as an independently audited charity mean that you can trust us to deliver for you, first time, every time. TOE is a recognised local offsetting provider, known by Local Planning Authorities, with a proven track record of delivering Biodiversity Net Gain projects across the county.

TOE is a registered charity and non-profit company with regulated financial processes that has been operating in Oxfordshire since 2011. We use any surplus we generate from trading BNG units to support communities in Oxfordshire to protect and restore their natural environment.
