Our purpose

At the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE), our purpose is to halt the decline in nature and help restore its richness. We work to:

  • protect and enhance existing sites of environmental importance

  • create biodiverse habitats where nature can thrive

  • connect people to their environment, building engagement with nature and support for its recovery.

Who we are

We are a registered charity, with a proven track record of delivering quality environmental projects in Oxfordshire since 2011. Over that time we have built a reputation for integrity with the individuals, communities and organisations that we work with.  We are deeply rooted here; everything we do is based on trust.

What we do

TOE works with community groups to fund local environmental projects, and with landowners and developers on biodiversity net gain, to support nature recovery across Oxfordshire.

Funding community environment projects

TOE funds local environmental projects run by community groups in Oxfordshire. These projects help to restore biodiversity, connect people with green spaces, and enable more sustainable and healthier ways of living.

Delivering Biodiversity Net Gain across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire

We are committed to finding innovative ways of to help tackle the ecological emergency. We were one of the first in the UK to deliver biodiversity net gain units in 2018, and we have already delivered units across more than 100 hectares of countryside.

“TOE performs the crucial task of making connections. It connects the strategic with the local, vision with practicality, and funding with need. By working with three key areas it has focus; by responding to local energy it has flexibility. It seems to me that everyone is a winner. We just have to get behind it. “
